About the collection
'Inspired by a weekend away to the Hawke's Bay, this new body of work is about searching for wholeness and reconnecting to self.
Since Covid, I like many other people with family elswhere, are most likely sharing emotions of longing and yearning. I love New Zealand and I have lived here for over 20 years, but I am originally from elsewhere and Covid has made elsewhere very very far away.
Having lived in the Hawke's Bay briefly when I first came to New Zealand in 1991, this little journey was a bit like walking over memories. We drove past the house on Tuki Tuki Road, went to Ocean Beach and Te Mata Peak and soaked up the culture that Napier and Havelock offers in abundance.
The title 'Pause Reflect' gives insight into my thoughts... my feelings of belonging, not necessarily to a physical place, but more an emotional state where I journeyed to, in order to reconnect. The titles of each work a breadcrumb, a realisation and an affirmation.
