The puriri moth of New Zealand is New Zealand’s largest moth. Aenetus virescens - Pūriri Moths are endemic and found only in the North Island. They live as a beautiful moth for only 48 hours and for the other 7 years as a caterpillar. To me they teach us that beauty is fleeting and we must focus on our inner selves too. If we only nurture the outer self (I call it the beautiful moth stage) we can lose sight of the inner self that is as beautiful and important even if we are so quick to judge what our outer appearance looks like.
