Set you free | 2013

'Set you free' was painted in 2013 in memory of my sailing journey in 1998 and also a memory of a past love, the reason I came to New Zealand. The journey was an adventure filled with excitement and despair. It changed the course of my life. There's just so much in this little work that is part of my story, from the goose to the boat, the moon and the little cage. Most of all I love that I painted a message to myself to let go of what I couldn't change. 

'Where did you meet when you fell in love and where did you leave the hurt when that love was lost. Go back to that place and show it some love. That place where you carefully wrapped up those hurts and heartaches. They cannot hurt anymore I promise, so bring it out from the dark and let it breathe in the air and set you free' Santie
