Birds of a Feather

Birds were important symbols since I migrated to New Zealand in 1999. I felt very connected to the migrating birds in the early years such as Godwits, Oystercatchers and Stilts. They were often painted with suitcases or on boats, migrating to a new destination. As I became more settled the birds changed to Fantails, Grey Warblers and Kingfishers. And finally the Huia bird as a symbol of the end of my bird series that reflected my journey of settling in New Zealand.
