The beautiful Earth Goddess that is Pohaturoa hill was formed in the Pleistocene era somewhere between 350,000 to 500,000 years ago. Based just outside Taupo, Pohaturoa hill Atiamuri, is an ancient volcanic dome that holds a unique part of New Zealand's pre-colonial past. The roadside was covered in yellow Broom flowers when I captured the image.
