"Wild at Heart" is a deeply personal cornerstone of my personal collection—a visual tapestry that weaves together the distinct chapters of my life.
At the heart of the composition sits a grounded, striking springbok, serving as a powerful emblem of my South African heritage. Framing this central presence are familiar echoes of home and transition: the iconic forms of proteas and native flora intertwine with New Zealand's delicate snowdrops, pōhutukawa blossoms, and a charming fantail perched below.
In the background, a quiet nod to my sailing journey emerges across the water—a distant horizon where oceans meet, bridging the distance between past and present. Layered with rich acrylics and personal history, this work captures the enduring spirit of carrying multiple homes within oneself.
