Distance marks a shift in my practice, where painting becomes a form of visual writing—a way of exploring feeling through material, gesture, and space.
In Distance, I investigate the territory of the in-between: the quiet geography between the country of my birth and the country where I live now. Home exists for me on neither side, but somewhere within the space between them.
By physically splitting a drawn vessel and landscape down the middle, I expose a hidden, vibrant core of paint within the fracture. The work transforms a structural break into a living seam, holding the accumulation of memory, endurance, and the complex life that quietly grows within separation.
